01 — Our Story

How Anjung Rekod began

Anjung Rekod started in Kuching because the people behind it kept seeing the same situation: a family sitting with a carrier bag of documents, unsure which ones were still valid, which were missing, and where to go next. The offices are real enough, and the procedures are published — but putting it all together takes time and a certain comfort with bureaucratic language that many people simply do not have.

We set up a small office on Jalan Padungan to offer something specific: a meeting where we look at what a client holds, write down what is present and what appears to be missing, and explain — in plain language — which office issues each item and what the published procedure involves. Nothing more, nothing less.

Over time we added courier-based support for families in Sibu, Miri and Bintulu, and a longer programme for households where multiple members need their records consolidated. Every service follows the same principle: we organise the paperwork, explain what is published, and leave the decisions with the family.

02 — Our Mission

What we set out to do

Our mission is to make retirement records manageable for people in Sarawak — including those in towns far from Kuching, and those who prefer to speak in Iban, Hokkien or Mandarin rather than English or Bahasa Malaysia.

We do not act on your behalf. We prepare letters for you to sign and send. We do not contact authorities on your behalf.

We do not assess entitlement. We tell you what documents you have and what appears to be missing. Decisions about claims belong with the relevant authority and with you.

We do not handle your money. Any fees payable to government offices are paid directly by you to those offices.

04 — How We Work

Standards we follow in every engagement

Written summaries only

Every session ends with a written document — not a verbal opinion. You have something to refer back to and share with family members who were not present.

Secure document handling

Originals sent by courier are insured. Digital copies are encrypted. Originals are returned within five working days of receipt. We do not retain copies beyond the agreed period.

Clear scope — no overreach

We explain what we will and will not do before any session begins. We coordinate paperwork. We do not give legal or financial opinions, and we do not represent clients before any office.

Published sources, clearly cited

When we refer to a procedure, we note where it is published. External references are marked and open in a new tab with a written note beforehand.

Data protection

We hold your personal data only for the period described in our Privacy Policy. We do not share it with third parties except for the courier service used to return your originals.

Respectful pace

Sessions move at the pace the client sets. We do not push for follow-up services. If a single meeting is all you need, that is the end of it.

05 — Sarawak Context

Records held at state and federal level

Retirement-related documents in Sarawak are spread across state and federal offices. Employment records for those who served in the Sarawak civil service are held differently from records held for those who worked in federal positions or private employment covered by national schemes. This distinction matters when a family is trying to track down a complete picture.

Anjung Rekod works through this complexity calmly and systematically. We note which documents belong to which office, which forms are used to request them, and what identification is typically required at each step. We do not make assumptions about which scheme applied; we look at the documents the client holds and explain what they tell us.

For families where the retired member held more than one type of employment across a working life — which is common in Sarawak — this structured review can make a significant difference in how clearly the full picture comes together.
